In Budva during 30th November and 1st December a two-day conference on the topic of Improving the protection and rescue system was held, which was organized within the project Disasters do not know borders 2, which is implemented by FORS Montenegro – Foundation for the Development of the North of Montenegro. The conference was organized in order to provide recommendations, exchange of experiences, opinions, models of good practice and lessons learned when it comes to improving the protection and rescue system, as well as informing the population and special target groups about this area. At the opening of the conference the participants were addressed by Melanie Bride, Project Manager for Cross-border Cooperation in the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro, Milica Abramovic from the Ministry of European Affairs of Montenegro and Veselin Sturanovic, executive director of FORS Montenegro.
The conference brought together representatives of institutions and services dealing with protection and rescue, civil society organizations and project partners from Montenegro and abroad, who during the two-day work presented experiences, recommendations and case studies related to the organization of protection and rescue systems in Montenegro, the countries of the region and the countries of the European Union.
The project Disasters do not know borders 2 is financed by the European Union within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Montenegro – Albania 2014-2020, and in Montenegro it is co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration. The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of people, institutions and services that deal with protection and rescue in order to reduce the risk of disasters through education and raising the level of awareness of citizens, modernization of equipment and improvement of cooperation in the target area.
